Indian Railway PNR Status meanings
When booking a train ticket on Indian Railways through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website or app, there are several important statuses that you may encounter. Here are some of the most common ones:
CNF (Confirmed)
CNF (Confirmed): This means that your ticket is confirmed and you have a confirmed seat on the train.
RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation)
RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation): This means that you have a seat on the train, but it is not confirmed. You will be allotted a berth at the time of chart preparation, which is usually a few hours before the scheduled departure of the train.
WL
WL (Waiting List): This means that your ticket is on the waiting list, and you do not have a confirmed seat on the train. If seats become available due to cancellations, you may get a confirmed seat.
RLWL
RLWL (Remote Location Waiting List): This waiting list is for passengers who are travelling from intermediate stations to the final destination, and their quota is assigned from a remote location. This waiting list has a lower chance of confirmation than the general waiting list.
PQWL
PQWL (Pooled Quota Waiting List): This waiting list is for passengers who are travelling between two intermediate stations, and their quota is assigned from a pooled quota. This waiting list has a lower chance of confirmation than the general waiting list.
GNWL
GNWL (General Waiting List): This is the most common waiting list, and it is for passengers who are travelling from the originating station to the final destination. This waiting list has a higher chance of confirmation than other waiting lists.
REGRET/WL
REGRET/WL (No More Booking Permitted): This means that the train is fully booked, and no more tickets are available for booking.
TQWL
TQWL (Tatkal Waiting List): This waiting list is for passengers who have booked tickets under the Tatkal quota, which is a premium service with higher fares that allows passengers to book tickets at short notice. This waiting list has a lower chance of confirmation than the general waiting list.
CAN
CAN (Cancelled): This means that your ticket has been cancelled by you or by the system due to various reasons, such as non-payment, duplicate booking, or train cancellation.
MOD
MOD (Modified): This means that your ticket has been modified, such as changing the boarding station, coach, or seat.
WL/AVAILABLE
WL/AVAILABLE (Waitlisted, but seats are available): This means that your ticket is on the waiting list, but there are seats available in a higher class. You may choose to upgrade your ticket to the higher class by paying the fare difference.
RELEASED
RELEASED (Ticket not booked): This means that your booking has been released, and the seats are available for other passengers to book.
